Bijay Kumal is a prominent Nepalese software developer, IT trainer, and entrepreneur recognized for his significant contributions to the information technology sector and the growth of digital education in Nepal. He is the founder and CEO of Lumino Technology Pvt. Ltd., a software company based in Pokhara that provides a range of services including software solutions, web and application development, and digital training.
Born in Gorkha and raised in Pokhara, Kumal demonstrated a keen interest in technology from a young age. Though he initially pursued a background in Civil Engineering, his passion for the digital world led him to a full-time career in IT. He began as a freelance web developer, QA Tester specializing in WordPress projects and building a reputation for his expertise in theme customization, plugin development, and SEO integration.
In February 2025, Kumal founded Lumino Technology Pvt. Ltd. in Pokhara, with the goal of supporting digital transformation in Nepal and expanding its services globally. The company offers custom software development, website and mobile application development, tech training, and IT outsourcing, among other services. One of the notable projects under his leadership is the development of Software’s, a WordPress theme and plugin designed for news portals and media agencies in Nepal.
Kumal is a very active and influential member of the WordPress community in Nepal. He frequently participates in events such as WordCamp Nepal and WordPress Pokhara Meetups as a speaker, organizer, and mentor. His contributions to the open-source community are driven by a commitment to knowledge sharing and professional development. He has also been involved in organizing several WordCamps, including WordCamp Pokhara 2025 and WordCamp Nepal 2025.
Through his work and training programs, Kumal has had a significant impact on many young developers and small businesses in Nepal, particularly in regions outside of the capital, Kathmandu.
